Coal Goal

November 4, 2015 – January 31, 2016

Project title "Coal Goal" is a metaphore for human desire of power, recognition and enrichment. Such is a common accepted understanding of success in modern society.

Human nature is helpless to avoid ever repeated wars for dominating and grabbing of resources. Events in Ukraine are live example and proof of the absurdity of violence. Symbolically, coal has appeared in the midst of geopolitical disagreements, becoming cause and witness of the next historical disasters.

Perhaps the time will come for qualitative evolutionary changes of human consciousness, and the huge  man’s potential  conceived by nature, will show in constant creative and spiritual achievements. Coal will stay as archive of historical dust,  as a bible of mistakes and suffering. For the "Coal Goal" exhibition Ukrainian artists made their own artifacts of time referring to coal as a means and source of creative ideas.
