Decompression

Presentation of project In Kiev

June 19 – July 19, 2015

Artcult foundation became organizational partner of the  Kiev presentation of art project „Decompression“, shown at Saint-Church in Paris, in  spring of 2015 . Exhibition will be open at the Modern Art Research Institute from 19th of June untill 19th of July.

The name of the project - Decompression, refers to an extremely dangerous, deadly physical process, which strongly affects gas filled spaces and liquids, particularly if they contain dissolved gases. The second meaning of Decompression is removing paraplasms to relieve pressure on nerves or blood vessels. Both meanings are strong metapho 2015s for current Ukrainian issues, their origin and consequences.

Project presents a wide range of the artists: from acclaimed Manifesta and Venice Biennial participators to the young ones, who recently emerged on art scene. Besides Ukrainian artists, Decompression included Jose Batista , a musician and visual artist from Spain and Kristina Norman, filmmaker and artist from Estonia.

Since Decompression has been created for a very peculiar and sacral space of ancient church, we do not intend to recreate it, but to present its documentation in order to give the perception of the Paris exhibition. Some of artworks are presented partially, some only in documentation or in the new form, adapted to the gallery space.

Opening reception Friday 19 June at 7 p.m. Admission is free
